In our last interview, we spoke with Trisha Trixie Hunter-Merrill and learned about how vision boarding is an art therapy she uses to seek mindfulness when life feels like it’s testing her. Now? We’re excited to introduce you to Lovet Planners customer Charise Horn!

Charise's Lovet Story

Charise is a Food & Beverage Manager at Fitness Formula Clubs in Chicago, Illinois. She’s passionate about health and fitness and considers herself a “total foodie”. Not only that but Charise lost 100 lbs from boxing as an amateur boxer.

“It quite literally changed my life,” Charise shared. “I love inspiring others to never give up and always strive to be the best version of themselves. My family means the absolute world to me; my little cousins, nieces, and nephews are the ones that keep me going day in and day out.”

Mental health awareness is something that Charise also sees great importance in as she’s personally gone through her own struggles.

“I was in a pretty dark place last year, from the social injustices going on in our country, to my parents not being on that same page....Work was completely different and just a lot of change,” Charise elaborated. “I honestly felt like I lost everything. It was actually the idea of my therapist who suggested a “self care” notebook and it took off from there. I wouldn’t be in the spot I am today if it wasn’t for this [Self Care Planner] journal.”

Charise’s story is one that many others can relate to. After all, the movement in self care experienced a resurgence at the peak of the pandemic. Everyone’s mental health was taking a direct hit.

“It really opened my eyes on how important it is to yourself first, and filling your own cup before filling anyone else’s. We can’t pour from an empty cup.”

Charise’s therapist recommended turning to a self care notebook and/or gratitude journal of sorts, and that’s how Charise found Lovet Planners! With the Gratitude Journal, Charise is reminded of how truly blessed her life is while the Self Care Planner brought more introspection into her life.

She shared, “[I like] The really deep questions that make you think and think about what your grateful for and what your goals are for yourself."

Continuing her interview, Charise weighed in on self care and gratitude and what they mean for women.

“I think for women these two things are highly important, women are often looked to as the person who is supposed to always keep it together. Self care and gratitude are two things that can help women cope with stressors of life because for that 30 minutes or 45 minutes it is you and your thoughts getting them out on paper and no one can tell how to feel or what to feel.”

“Don’t be afraid to start, the hardest step is starting this journey and once you're on, you never want to get off. It will be hard, no doubt about it but you will learn so many things about yourself that you’ve never known before.”

A huge thank you to Charise for chatting gratitude and self care with us. Charise leaves an affirmation with our readers: No matter how dark it gets, the sun’s going to rise again.
