We’ve all thought about the things we want. From imagining how we would look in that new outfit to envisioning ourselves getting that promotion, most of us tap into manifesting whether we realize it or not.
As the year comes to a close, we may start thinking a little more actively about how we want our futures and ideal lives to look. It just so happens there are a ton of methods that have gotten more popular to help us along the journey.
What is Manifesting?
The idea of manifesting is not new. From The Secret to The Power of Positive Thinking, there has been no shortage of books, methods, and ideas to help get us along the path to our best lives.
So what is manifesting?
You may have heard of the law of attraction, and we don’t mean what happens on the third date.
At its core, manifesting is visualizing something that you want to have happen. You envision what you want the outcome to be - how it looks, how it feels - and allow that to lead you to success, with just a little help from the universe.
There are a lot of different ways people approach the practice. You may be familiar with some of the tools: vision boards, scripting, and affirmations. Additionally, there are various ideas behind how it’s done from ritual to keeping your eyes peeled for certain numbers.
All of this being said, manifesting has been used as a powerful tool and one that can help keep you on the path to your goals.
What is a Manifesting Journal?
We’re likely all familiar with keeping a journal. Some of us track ideas, some of us write therapeutically, and some capture dreams we’ve had while sleeping.
A manifesting journal takes the ideas of visualization and brings them into regular and physical practice. In much the same way a Vision Board helps us visualize what we want with mostly images, a manifesting journal helps us get there with mostly words.
By journaling what it is you want to attract, there are actually some surprise benefits.
Journaling has long been a therapeutic tool to help us get our thoughts and feelings organized. Journaling with manifestation in mind can help in similar ways. We can release and acknowledge emotions, obstacles, and even confront ideas that we don’t deserve what we want.
Also according to neuroscientist Tara Swart, M.D., Ph.D. who also wrote The Source, Journaling can also help us recognize when we have a scarcity mindset versus an abundance one. Or when we are stuck focusing on what we lack instead of how much there is to get and achieve.
The practice of physically writing with a pen and paper also has a number of benefits as well. It can help us cut out distractions - there aren’t a lot of tabs open on a physical piece of paper. It can help us connect in a deeper way than just typing. And it actually even helps with memory retention, according to Oxford Learning.
All of these things together can help boost our practice of manifesting, and get us closer to realizing our goals!
The Best Manifesting Journals
To get into the right place for manifest journaling, we always want to start with the right intention and mindset. It’s important to be clear and detailed, so finding a journal that supports what you want is key.
Space for exploration and specificity
Having a journal that gives you the space to get specific is important! While that’s the case, having enough space to also explore your thoughts and feelings can be important to help you find those specific details.
Remember, you want to think about not only what it is you want, but all of the details surrounding it. What does the outcome look like? How will it feel to be in that desired place?
If you don’t know offhand, that’s where the journaling process can help! Writing freely and openly can help you nail down those little bits that will help you manifest with focused intention.
Encouragement and guidance
Even for those pro manifesters among us, we all run into challenges. Sometimes things are going to feel hard and like we’re overwhelmed.
An ideal journal will help you along your journey by also giving encouragement. Whether containing a sprinkle of empowering quotes or uplifting stories, a journal complete with reminders that ‘you’ve got this’ is going to help you stay on track.
Additionally, even among the experienced it can be helpful to have guidance. If you’re new to the manifesting journal thing, it can help give a structure to follow. If you’ve been doing it for a while, guidance can also help us stay on track and get the most out of it by being consistent.
A journal you’ll want to write in
At the end of the day, it’s not going to help at all if you’re using a journal you don’t like. Having a journal that you enjoy seeing, flipping through, and that you actually want to write in is going to be one of the biggest helpers in manifestation journaling.
Look for one that feels good, looks good, and contains what you want in terms of encouragement and guidance. If you find one that you want to write in, you’re going to do it more regularly. And if you journal for manifesting regularly, that will be where you get the most benefit.
