Mental Health May (+ MAY 2023 WALLPAPER DOWNLOAD)

You may have come across Star Wars and Justin Timberlake memes this month, but there's more to May than just some quick laughs. It's Mental Health Awareness Month.

Lovet Planners continues to join and participate in Mental Health Awareness Month to not just speak on mental health, but remind everyone that mental health needs to be destigmatized and that we’re all in this together.

Mental health is just as important as physical health. This is why it's important to prioritize activities that help you to reduce stress, improve your mood, and increase your overall sense of well-being.

According to The National Alliance on Mental Wellness (NAMI), millions of people in the U.S. are affected by mental illness each year. Here are some fast facts:

  • 1 in 5 U.S. adults experience mental illness each year.
  • 1 in 20 U.S. adults experience serious mental illness each year.
  • 1 in 6 U.S. youth aged 6-17 experience a mental health disorder each year.
  • 50% of all lifetime mental illness begins by age 14, and 75% by age 24.
  • Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among people aged 10-14

These numbers are also powerful tools for raising public awareness, stigma-busting and advocating for better health care.

One of the most important aspects of self care is taking care of your mental health.

Some activities that can help you to take care of your mental health include practicing mindfulness, taking time for yourself to rest and relax, exercising regularly, and spending time with loved ones. It's also important to seek professional help if you are struggling with mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, or stress.

We’ve got a long way to go. So to set the intention of showing up for your mental health while supporting this message, let’s repeat a this affirmation together.

Here's your May Affirmation + Intention (write it or repeat it out loud):

"I prioritize my mental health and thrive."

Here’s a pro-tip: Having a guided journal that you spend 5 minutes a day with can give you the mindset shift–even if temporary–long enough to help you keep moving forward. What is first a coping mechanism becomes engrained in your system and you’ll see things change around you!
